Malaysia

Southeast Asia's most affordable expat paradise

Malaysia has emerged as one of Southeast Asia's top destinations for expats, digital nomads, and retirees. With its low cost of living, excellent infrastructure, multicultural society, and widespread English proficiency, Malaysia offers a compelling alternative to more expensive regional hubs like Singapore and Hong Kong. Kuala Lumpur, the vibrant capital, combines modern skyscrapers with colonial architecture and diverse neighborhoods. The city boasts world-class healthcare, reliable public transport, blazing-fast internet, and an incredible food scene influenced by Malay, Chinese, Indian, and Western cuisines. Beyond the city, Malaysia offers tropical beaches in Langkawi and the east coast, tea plantations in the Cameron Highlands, ancient rainforests in Borneo, and historic cities like Penang and Malacca. The government actively courts foreign talent and investment through programs like DE Rantau for digital nomads and MM2H for long-term residents.
