Long-term visa for highly qualified IT and marketing professionals working remotely. Launched in 2023 and expanded in 2025 to include Brazil, Israel, Mexico, and Singapore. Eligible nationalities: US, UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, and newly added countries. Requires degree in IT/STEM or 3+ years experience. Must work for foreign company with 50+ employees or as freelancer. Minimum income CZK 69,836/month (~$2,900). Annual quota of 5,000 applications for 2026. Apply by emailing digitalnomad@mpo.cz with documentation. Valid for 1 year initially, then can apply for 2-year long-term residence.
๐ผEmployee Card
Combined work and residence permit for non-EU citizens employed in Czech Republic for more than 3 months. From January 2026, applications must be processed within 90 days, with digital applications reducing this to 30-90 days. Requires employer sponsorship with job vacancy registered in the central database. The position must be at least 15 hours per week with a contract valid for at least 1 year. Valid for 2 years and renewable. Provides free access to the Czech labor market for the sponsoring employer. Must apply through Czech embassy in home country. Register with Foreign Police within 3 working days of arrival.
๐EU Blue Card
Premium work permit for highly qualified non-EU professionals. From January 2026, salary threshold increased to CZK 77,245/month (~โฌ3,150) due to minimum wage adjustments. Requires completed higher education of at least 3 years and employment in a position matching those qualifications. Work contract must be for at least 6 months with stipulated weekly hours. Valid up to 3 years. After 2 years, job changes require only notification (not approval). EU Blue Card holders can bring family members more easily. Provides path to permanent residence and mobility within EU after 18 months.

Long-term residence permit for family members of foreigners legally residing in Czech Republic. Sponsor must have resided in Czechia for at least 15 months with long-term or permanent residence. For spouse reunification, both parties must be at least 20 years old. Children under 18 can join parents. Provides free access to Czech labor market without additional work permit. Processing time 90-270 days depending on where application is submitted. Can travel within Schengen Area. After 5 years, can apply for permanent residence. Polygamous marriages not recognized.

Popular freelance/self-employment visa pathway using the Czech trade license system (Zivnostenske opravneni). Allows self-employed persons to live and work legally in Czech Republic. Requires registering a trade license (1,000 CZK/year) and obtaining long-term business visa. Major tax advantage: use 60/40 lump-sum method to deduct 60% of income as expenses without receipts, paying tax only on remaining 40%. Must pay monthly social security (~$132) and health insurance (~$122). Initial visa valid 6-12 months, then apply for 2-year long-term residence.
